California Pacific University regularly assesses Student Learning Outcomes to ensure that academic programs effectively prepare students for their professional and personal goals. The assessment cycle includes direct and indirect measures of student achievement.
Institutional Learning Outcomes
Critical Thinking
Students will demonstrate the ability to analyze complex issues, evaluate evidence, and formulate reasoned conclusions using appropriate methodologies.
Communication
Students will effectively communicate ideas through written, oral, and digital media appropriate to their academic discipline and professional context.
Ethical Reasoning
Students will apply ethical principles and demonstrate integrity in their academic work, professional practice, and community engagement.
Assessment Cycle
SLO assessment follows a systematic cycle: (1) Define outcomes, (2) Align curriculum, (3) Collect evidence, (4) Analyze results, (5) Implement improvements, and (6) Re-assess. Results are published annually and shared with faculty for program improvement planning.
